Tie-dye Christmas Cards
For the holiday season we worked on different cards for each age group. For the second year students we worked on tie-dye Christmas cards.
First, students drew circles with white oil pastels on a paper they had folded. Next, they arranged pre-cut pieces of tissue paper on the paper they had just drawn on. Using a spray bottle, students sprayed water on the tissue paper making sure they got water on every piece.
While we waited for our paper to dry, we cut green construction paper into the shape of a Christmas tree. Students folded the Christmas tree like a fan and decorated it with a star, glitter and sequins.
Once our tissue paper had dried, we pulled it off from our card and noticed that the water made the tissue paper stain our card creating a cool colorful effect. We glued our tree on our card and we wrote a message for our family.
