3-D Boats

Back in January 2019, I taught all of my students about 3-D art and I showed them the difference between 3-D art and 2-D art. If you are interested about the activity I used to help them feel and visualize the difference between the two check out my blog post about it: https://artwithraquel.blogspot.com/2019/08/mark-jenkins-boot.html

I taught the 5 years old students (4 internationally) about origami. Together, we made a boat step by step. It took us about 30 minutes to get everyone to fold carefully and follow me as we folded the paper but students were so happy to see the boat appear on the final fold. Once we finished the boat, we used markers to color our boat.
We took a full paper and painted it blue with acrylic paint. Once the paint dried, the following week, I hot glued the boat on the paper and I had students draw waves and fish on the blue paper with oil pastels.
Overall, the project took us two 45 minute long classes.
