Felt Quilt

The theme for the month of May was "Art from Around the World". For this theme's month, I wanted to show art from around the world, pretty straight forward.
One of the subjects for the 4 year olds was quilts. Students looked at pictures of quilts and discussed what they all had in common. I explained to them their cultural importance in the United States and how making quilts is seen as a community activity in some places.
For the activity, I gave students 6 felts squares to decorate. We decorated each square step by step together. When we finished decorating the squares, students stuck the squares onto a bigger piece of felt. I had pre cut smaller shapes they could stick on their felt to decorate their quilt even more.
