Foil Monoprints

August is when we started learning about printmaking and starting to work on our art for Gate Art Gallery.
For their introduction to the subject, the 4 year old students worked on foil monoprints. I wrapped a sturdy piece of cardboard with foil so students could draw on it. I poured watery paint on it and instructed students to paint everything as fast as they could.
Once they were done painting they used a q-tip to draw anything they wanted on the foil. When they finished drawing I introduced them to stencils and we worked on using stencils with paint. It was messy and the work did not turn out very well but it was a project where the objective was to learn about a new kind of art making process.
