Folded Christmas Tree
My theme in December is Christmas art. With my second year old students we worked on a tie-dye Christmas card and with my first year students we worked on finger paint Christmas card.
With my third year students we followed this tutorial by Krokotak as we folded our construction paper into a Christmas tree. Students were able to follow along with minimal issues however I did the tree with thicker construction paper and thin paper. The thick construction paper was almost impossible to glue with glue sticks and I had to hot glue the tree for many disheartened students who were annoyed by the paper (I was too). With the next class, I changed to a thinner paper and there were no issues.
Once we finished folding, we glued sequins and glitter on our tree to make it more joyful.
To get the background of our card we drew snowflakes with white oil pastel and painted over it with watercolors. I allowed students to use any kind of color combination they wanted and they did a fantastic job making their cards joyful and colorful.
